Retention of Student Work

UPS 320.005PDF File Opens in new window governs university policy in this matter. Normally, student papers or other products originated by the student are returned to them; however, written materials associated with tests or examinations do not have to be returned. It is the student’s right to review a test and to discuss the evaluation of the test with the instructor. Examinations and tests not returned to students are to be kept on file for at least one semester (longer if there is an academic appeal in progress). In the case of a faculty member who will not be on campus the following semester, the materials and grade book should be retained by the department for the requisite period of time.
