Required Field of Study
The undergraduate minor program is designed to complement academic fields for which a focus on Latin America can be beneficial. In consultation with the coordinator, students minoring in Latin American Studies must complete the following:
Proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese
* Students with knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese may be able to meet part or all of the language course requirements by consulting with the Program Coordinator at jishikawa@fullerton.edu.
SPAN 204, or PORT 214, or equivalency
3 units of History and Culture
LTAM 300, HIST 350, or SPAN 316
9 units of approved electives
Elective courses must have a Latin American emphasis and should be selected in consultation with the Latin American Studies Coordinator. To gain greater depth, students are encouraged to focus their elective courses in one of the four categories listed below.
In addition to the electives listed below, students may enroll in LTAM 399, a directed study course which allows students to pursue supervised individual or small group study within Latin American topics.
