managing your award (post-award)

When your proposal is funded you will work with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to manage your award. OSP is a division of the Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC). They will process purchase orders, check requests, travel advances, and they have a HR unit which works to hire personnel or students for your project. Your Sponsored Programs Administrator will assist you in managing your grant money. It is a good idea to keep your own budgetary records. Multi-year projects often require annual reports in addition to final reports.

PI Responsibilites

Some Principal Investigators will confess that getting the award is the easy part. Carrying out and managing the project can be challenging (yet fun and exciting!)

As the Principal Investigator, you are now in charge of essentially running your own business. Your role will expanded from being "just a PI" to a hiring manager, hr manager, supply orderer, purchaser, etc.

There are plenty of resources to help you in this process. Please review the PI/PD Handbook for further information.
