FACULTY SCHOLARLY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

 

Purpose

To encourage and support outstanding scholarly work of HSS Faculty. Three awards total: one award of $1,500 and two awards of $500.

Applications are due at 4PM (PST) on the listed deadline. 


Eligibility

Available to tenured/tenure-track faculty members who have published a peer reviewed article or essay that has appeared in a peer reviewed book or journal, authored (or co-authored) and published within the past calendar year – published from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Other forms of scholarly work will be considered but must be justified as the equivalent of traditional scholarship. 


Instructions

Submit the online application and upload a one-page narrative and electronic copy of the article/essay by the listed deadline. The narrative should include your name and title page and address: the quality of the journal or publication, your article’s/essay’s contribution to the field, and co-authored contribution, if applicable.

Important Information 

Each HSS department or division will be limited to 1 to 3 submissions proportionate to T/TT Faculty. Departments/divisions for whom we receive more than their maximum number of applicants will be asked to review and recommend up to their limit. The final applications will be reviewed by the HSS Faculty Awards Committee. Applications are evaluated by the HSS Faculty Awards Committee; all recommendations by the committee are final. Three recommendations from the college committee will be sent to the Dean for award decision.
