Eligibility

All H&SS faculty are eligible for these awards, including tenured/tenure track, and lecturers. Individual faculty members are eligible to receive only one award every three years and can be nominated in only one category in any given year; two years must elapse following the receipt of an H&SS Faculty Award before being nominated again. One faculty member may be selected annually for each of the awards listed below.

These annual awards are in six categories:

  • Distinguished Faculty Member
The Distinguished Faculty Member award honors a tenured faculty member with rank of professor who has served the college for at least five years and has demonstrated a consistent record of excellent teaching, research, and service.
  • Outstanding Teaching
  • Outstanding Scholarship and Creativity
  • Outstanding Service
  • Outstanding Untenured Faculty Member
  • Outstanding Lecturer (full-time or part-time)

Instructions

Step 1: Submit nomination letter written by an active H&SS colleague (e.g., FERP, T/TT and Lecturers) to ngraham@fullerton.edu by the deadline listed above; self-nominations not accepted. Online applications will be sent to those that accept the nomination.

Step 2: Submit the online application with required documents (as one PDF) by the deadline listed above.

Required documents include:
    • A narrative by the nominee of accomplishments related to the award during the last three years – except for the Distinguished Faculty Member Award, which may cover one’s career (maximum of one-page for all narratives).
    • A current annotated CV that highlights award criteria (maximum of 6 pages; for the Distinguished Faculty Member Award a maximum of 12 pages).
    • One supporting letter by an active H&SS colleague (e.g., FERP, T/TT and Lecturers).  Note: This is in addition to the nomination letter. For the Distinguished Faculty, Outstanding Untenured Faculty, Outstanding Teaching, and Outstanding Lecturer Awards, the letter must be written from an active H&SS Colleague who has observed the nominee’s teaching within the past three years and can address in the supporting letter.

Please do not include the nomination letter; this will be provided to the H&SS Faculty Awards Committee by the Dean’s Office.

Important Information

Recipients of the other awards are eligible to receive $2,000 in a Dean’s Office account to support professional development activities that enhance teaching, research, and/or service. The recipients will also receive personalized plaques.
