The College of Humanities and Social Sciences has almost thirty academically related student organizations which you can join. Active participation in co-curricular activities builds employer valued skills: the ability to think critically, strong organizational and leadership skills, and effective writing and public speaking skills. Involvement in student organizations complements and enriches the academic classroom experience with experiential learning. Additionally, getting involved in clubs helps to build a strong network of support within your area of study, including faculty, staff and peer mentors. By getting involved in academically related student organizations, you make connections with other students who share your major and faculty who will be your mentors and friends. You also expose yourself to rich conversations on topics related to your degree program academic field of study.

FAQs

What is the HSS ICC?

ICC stands for the Inter-Club council. As part of Associated Students Inc. (ASI), the HSS ICC is the funding council for registered student organizations associated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The HSS ICC is run entirely by a conglomerate of student representatives from the multitude of HSS clubs and organizations that pertain to the ICC.

What is the function of the HSS ICC?

The ICC is dedicated to the growth and support of graduate and undergraduate education, research, public service, and professional development. The HSS ICC is responsible for disbursing funds directly from ASI to students. The HSS ICC meets on a weekly basis wherein students and their clubs can submit proposals for funding to cover the cost of presenting at research conferences, guest speakers, or other club activities. We strive to promote Cal State Fullerton and its students within the national and international academic community.

Who can get funds from the HSS ICC?

Any and all registered clubs associated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences who also currently sit on the HSS ICC can request these funds. Each club or organization must have an active, regularly participating representative in order to seek financial support from the HSS ICC. If you aren’t part of an HSS ICC club, your club can be added to the HSS ICC through a registration process or you can request the HSS ICC Director of Administration to propose on your behalf.

What is the benefit of belonging to the HSS ICC?

The most important benefit of being a part of the HSS ICC is the ability for students to have access to more conferences, extra-curricular activities, and getting involved on-campus and off. The HSS ICC also takes part in planning HSS Week in the spring semester and the Humanities and Social Sciences Symposium, events that showcase the significance of the college to the university and the accomplishments of HSS students and organizations. Students who also choose to be ICC representatives for their organizations improve their communication skills, learn more about various disciplines, and provide a valuable service to their departments or programs.

If you have any additional questions regarding the HSS ICC or how to access funds, please feel free to contact the HSS ICC board members.
