Why
major in Women's Studies?
Drawing
on the core competencies contained in general education,
women's studies places great emphasis on the skills
of critical thinking, writing and oral communication,
as well as incorporating technical expertise when
needed. Women's
studies majors develop proficiency in a wide variety
of research methodologies appropriate to humanities
and the social sciences, as well as the areas of
business, science and the arts. In
our ever-changing world, students from a variety
of backgrounds, both men and women, find the degree
in women's studies to be a beneficial foundation
for any number of careers. Additionally,
students majoring in other disciplines discover that
taking classes in the women's studies program, and
even supplementing their degree with a minor in women's
studies, leads to a richer understanding of the world.
