Dr. Marjorie Jolles

Brief biography: Marjorie Jolles' research and teaching areas include feminist theory, feminist philosophy, feminist cultural studies, sexuality studies, philosophy of the body, and feminist pedagogy.  She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy, along with a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies, from Temple University in 2003.  She has published articles on representations of "authentic" femininity in popular culture, Oprah Winfrey as philosopher, and the uses of postmodern philosophy in feminist teaching.  Professor Jolles is currently researching the roles women's bodies play in the rhetoric of personal empowerment--a project which has motivated a return to her Oprah studies.
