Brief Biography:
I earned my Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Foundations of Education from The Ohio State University in 2007. I also have an MA in Educational Policy and Leadership from Ohio State; a MA in history from CSU Long Beach and a BA in history and Afro-Ethnic Studies from CSU Fullerton. Raised in Compton, California by strong Black and Filipina women and having spent most of my life engaged in social justice and educational access work in communities of color, I consider myself to be a "race woman", where my research, teaching and activism focuses on the intersections of race, gender and class. Outside of work, I'm happily married, active in my sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and I wildly addicted to British television, political blogging and a good trashy romance novel or two.
