Summer 2013 in Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, Hungary

Often overlooked by tourists, Budapest is an enchanting city rich in history and full of life. The home of Roman ruins, Turkish baths, imperial palaces and socialist-realist architecture, Budapest is regarded by some as "the Paris of the east" and is one of the true hidden treasures of Central Europe. Also, as a nation situated between “east” and “west,” Hungary provides a perfect case study for an exploration of the way in which the interconnected forces of Europeanization and globalization have shaped national histories and identities.
