GEOG 345: China [GE D.5 & Z]
Through three weeks of online and in-class instruction at CSUF and three weeks of field trips in China's two largest cities, this course investigates the characteristics of China's changing physical, cultural, population, economic, political, and urban geography. Knowledge from textbooks as well as students' personal experiences, observations, explorations, and research will be woven into a geographic framework that allows useful generalization and emphasizes the diversity of China's people, places, and society.

HUM 350T: Chinese Life and Culture [GE C.3. & Z]
Introduction to China's life and culture through online and in-classroom lectures and a variety of field trips to China's most famous cultural and historical sites.

Faculty

Dr. Lei Xu

Lei XuDr. Lei Xu is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography at California State University, Fullerton. She received her B.Sc. in Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University, China and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography at McMaster University, Canada. She joined CSUF in 2006 and has been teaching courses on China, Asia, population geography, and human geography, etc. Her research interests include immigration and internal migration in the U.S. and Canada, and population dynamics in China, with a special focus on fertility preferences of Chinese young adults, China's family planning policies, and the spatial patterns of China's "floating population".
Dr. Xu grew up in Beijing and travelled extensively across different regions of China for research and exploration. With her 22 years of experience in China and the well-designed program activities and field trips, Dr. Xu will give students a fascinating and unforgettable experience of China.

Registration

After your application is approved, we will register you in your selected classes. After you are registered, you will be notified to go online and pay tuition for your Summer units. All adds, drops or schedule changes must be completed prior to leaving for this trip.

Summer 2013 tuition is separate from the program fees and will be paid through Student Financial Services after enrollment is complete.

China study abroad students are expected to attend all of their registered classes, unless there is a medical reason which prevents them from doing so, and to adhere to all behavioral norms established on their respective campuses.
