Travel Information
Passports and Visa Requirements
You must have a valid U.S. passport for the duration of the program. U.S. passport applications can be obtained at the Fullerton Public Library or any major post office. See here for more information. Passports should be applied for as soon as possible.
If you have a passport from a country other than the United States, you will need to contact the consulate of the country of your destination to ask about your specific Visa requirements.
We recommend that you sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) before embarking on your study abroad program to receive the latest travel updates and information; https://step.state.gov/step/
Information on those programs requiring visas can be found on their respective pages.
Airfare
Roundtrip airfare is separate from the program fee. If a group flight reservation is available, information is included with the program application. You are welcome to find your own (and sometimes less expensive) airfare, if you choose. However, we advise you to coordinate your flight arrival with the group flight arrival. Check the individual program's sites for the cost of the group flight.
Housing
Housing is provided in all study abroad programs. The type of housing is dependent on the individual programs.
- Homestay (Spain, Costa Rica, and London semester only): You will live with a local family, usually with one or two other American students from the program.
- Apartments or Student Dormitories (Paris, Italy, London, Ireland, Hungary, Spain, and South Africa): You are housed with other Americans in one flat or apartment building with several 2-person bedrooms. The apartments and flats usually have a kitchen and bathroom that is shared. This option will cost more based on location.
