Laura Gil-Trejo, M.P.H., M.A.
Acting DirectorLaura Gil-Trejo, the Social Science Research Center’s Acting Director, has occupied positions of increasing responsibility at the Center since 2005. She is an expert quantitative analyst with applied research and evaluation experience. Her scholarly interests include adolescent development, motivation, and academic persistence among under-represented students. Ms. Gil-Trejo’s most recent education was received at the University of California Irvine in the Department of Psychology and Social Behavior. She received her Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University and her Master’s in Social Ecology from UC Irvine.
Emily Otis, B.A.
CATI Survey Lab ManagerEmily Otis joined the Social Science Research Center as a telephone interviewer in 2006. She progressed rapidly through assignments as an Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager and was hired in September, 2007 as the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Survey Lab Manager. Ms. Otis is responsible for programming survey instruments, data collection quality control, and supervising the CATI lab interviewing staff. Ms. Otis is a qualified quantitative analyst and has contributed to a variety of technical reports produced for Center clients. She earned her Bachelor’s in Anthropology and is now pursuing her Master’s in the same discipline at California State University, Fullerton.
