Sociology Internship, Sociology 495, is designed to provide students with supervised pre-professional experience in a community agency. This program introduces interns to employment possibilities while they receive valuable field experience and build community contacts.

ENROLLMENT:
All students interested in doing a Sociology Internship (Soc. 495) must go to the Center for Internships, LH-209, Ph#(714)278-2171. This should be done the semester prior to enrollment in Soc. 495.

Sociology Internship brochures are available at the Sociology Department office and on the Internship bulletin board on the 7th floor of Humanities Building.
Students may arrange their own internships subject to the approval of the Internship Coordinator, Dr. Lorraine Prinsky.
All students must apply for the course through the Center for Internships during the semester prior to planned enrollment.
Attendance at the first class meeting is required to complete enrollment in Soc. 495 (Sociology Internship).


REQUIREMENTS

Placement: All students must contact the Center for Internships for placement as noted above. Following application at the Center, students may apply to agencies through the Center, through Dr. Prinsky’s referrals or by self-placement, subject to the approval of the Internship Coordinator, Dr. Lorraine Prinsky.

Field Requirements: 8 hours per week in agency for 3 units credit

Class Requirements: Attendance at class meetings during the semester, written reports and evaluation from agency supervisor
