Prof. Rae Newton

Teaching interests: Research Methods and Statistics

Research interests: Longitudinal outcomes for high risk children and foster care populations.

Brief biography: Rae R. Newton, Ph.D. is Professor Emeritus at California State University Fullerton, Department of Sociology.  He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara and completed post-doctoral research in measurement at Indiana University.  He currently is co-principal investigator, with Dr. Alan Litrownik, on a twenty-year longitudinal study of the etiology and impact of child maltreatment funded by the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect.  His research with Dr. Litrownik and other collaborators has helped shape our understanding of the long term consequences of removal and reunification from abusive, violent and neglectful environments.
