Brief
biography: Dr. Ryba completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Psychology and Law, at the University of Alabama in 2004. She spent four years working as an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City before coming to CSUF. Her clinical and research interests fall within the realm of criminal forensic assessment. Current research projects focus on the assessment of competency to stand trial for juvenile offenders, exploring aspects of development relevant to decisions made regarding the treatment of juveniles in the criminal justice system, detecting malingering in competency evaluations, and evaluating the validity and usefulness of published forensic assessment instruments. Dr. Ryba has worked within county, state, and federal facilities providing clinical and forensic services for juvenile and adult offenders.
