Internships Step-by-Step
The
Center for Internships and Cooperative Education
oversees the University's policies, guidelines,
and expectations for student learning in academic
work-integrated learning experiences. Your Phil
493 Senior Internship must be coordinated through
this office.
- Begin the internship process by visiting
the Center for Internships website.
- One of the first things you must do is
attend an "Orientation
Session." You can find a list of the
dates when the sessions will be held at http://campusapps2.fullerton.edu/Career/students/guideci.aspx.
- Create or update your resume. Ask the
Center for Internships or the
Professional Career Advisor for help if
you wish.
- You must complete and sign various forms
in the application packet you will be
given at the Orientation Session. Note
that the Professional Career Advisor must
verify your eligibility and sign the
forms as well.
- The most important step is finding the
internship. This may take several weeks.
You should plan ahead, make personal
contacts, and check the Center for
Internships regularly. It is probably not
as hard as it sounds: most of these
organizations have interns regularly and
are already looking for an intern just
like you.
- Register for Phil 493 only after you have
been accepted for an internship. A late
add is preferable to signing up for the
course and not being able to complete it
because you did not find an internship on
time.
