Brief biography: Gregory (Chris) Brown joins the CSUF faculty as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice, following a one-year position here as a full-time lecturer. In 1990, I received my Ph.D. in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, with an emphasis in Criminology. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology.

My first teaching job was at U.C. Santa Barbara. Next, I worked as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Chapman University in Orange, California from 1991 to 1997. I also taught at the California Youth Authority in Whittier for three years, and worked part time at CSUF. From 2003 to 2005, I taught as a full-time lecturer at CSU Long Beach.

I have taught at California State University, Fullerton in various capacities (i.e. part-time lecturer, full-time lecturer and Assistant Professor since 2001). The academic year 2006-07 was my first as an Assistant Professor.

I grew up in Los Angeles (Watts) and am the first in my family to attend a four-year college or university.

In 2003, I received a Certificate of Recognition, as a Volunteer for the Gang Class and Brothers Out of Trouble (BOOT) Programs, Fred C. Nelles Youth Correctional Facility.
