Pers 101 Fundamental Persian A

Fall 2007
Description: Persian 101 is designed for non-native speakers of Persian. Development of listening and reading comprehension and speaking. Introduction of writing and development of cultural awareness to communicate on a basic level. Conducted primarily in Persian.

Description: Prerequisites: Persian 101 or equivalent. Persian 102 is designed for non-native speakers of Persian. Continued development of listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing to communicate on a basic level. Conducted primarily in Persian.

Description: Prerequisites: Persian 102 or equivalent. Persian 203 is designed to further develop students' proficiency and communication in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing using intermediate level language materials. Conducted primarily in Persian.

Pers 202 Persian for Persian Speakers B

Description: Prerequisite Persian 201 or equivalent. Persian 202 is designed to further develop students’ reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities in the Persian language. Throughout the course, the emphasis is placed on developing overall language proficiency and expanding cultural awareness. Conducted primarily in Persian.

Pers 300 Persian Conversation

Description: Prerequisite Persian 202 or equivalent. Persian 300 is designed to further develop oral expression and diction through discussions, oral presentations, dialogues/debates. Vocabulary development in areas of student concerns. Conducted in Persian.

Pers 305 Advanced Persian A

Fall 2007
Description: Prerequisite Persian 202/300 or equivalent. Persian 301 is designed to help students achieve advanced levels of oral and written expression. Literary materials provide a basis for discussions, systematic modes of complex expression and compositions. Conducted in Persian.

Persian Summer Language Institute

As part of the CSU-SLI, California State University Fullerton, we will offer an intensive Persian Summer Institute from June 14 to July 23, 2010. Students will be guided through an innovative, rigorous curriculum, helping them to master the basics of the Persian language as they move rapidly toward advanced fluency. The intermediate level of instruction will be given university degree credit.

The Intermediate Persian intensive immersion course awards 9 credit units. It incorporates: a) Persian 203 for 3 units, b) Persian 204 for 3 units, and c) Persian 300 for 3 units.

Students with some previous knowledge of Persian increase their proficiency, raising their knowledge of Persian language and culture to a more advanced level of fluency.

All students will learn rapidly in a true immersion setting with many cultural activities focused on Persian language and culture. Small classes, one-to-one tutoring, and innovative use of technology enhance individualized learning. Classes and interactive learning extend from morning to late afternoon with language table lunches.
