Korean Advisement
WHICH KOREAN COURSE SHOULD I START TAKING AT CSUF?
Placement depends on your experience and level in Korean. Students should enroll at that point in the sequence of courses for which, their previous study and/or experience prepares them.
1.) NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS OF KOREAN
A. Entering high-school graduates (Freshmen)

1 year of Korean completed two or more years ago | Korean 101 |
2 years of Korean completed in the last year | Korean 203 |
2 years of Korean completed two or more years ago | Korean 102 |
3 years of Korean completed | Korean 203 |
B. Community college transfers
If you've taken Korean at a community college, you need to continue the equivalent course sequence:

2) NATIVE SPEAKERS OF KOREAN
- If you can speak Korean, but only know the alphabet & basic expressions, you should enroll in Korean 102.
- If you can speak, read and write in Korean, but need improvement, you should enroll in Korean 203.
- If you had more than 1 year of schooling (K-12) in South Korea, but need improvement, you should enroll in Korean 203.
