Sigma Delta Pi Membership Requirements

Sigma Delta Pi seeks out students who have attained high academic achievement in the study of the Spanish language, the literature and culture of Hispanic nations, and other college-level subjects. Active membership is to students who have demonstrated general excellence in the academic study of Spanish.

Specifically, students must have:

  • Completed at least three years of study of college-level Spanish (including language, culture and literature)
  • A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all Spanish coursework
  • A grade point average of 2.75 or higher in all other coursework

Members of Sigma Delta Pi must continue to show commitment to the Spanish language, culture and literature by participating in various community service projects, such as tutoring, cultural events and academic colloquia.

 

 

Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of South Carolina a member of the Association of College of Honor Societies, and affiliated with the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Founded at the University of California, Berkeley in 1919.
