SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS FOR LIBERAL STUDIES MAJORS
• Tentative Summer 2008 LBST Class Schedule
There are two plans in the Liberal Studies major. The
ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PLAN is for students planning
to enter teaching
credential programs and pursue careers as elementary
school and middle school teachers. The THEMATIC PLAN
is designed
for students who want to pursue studies that are not
adequately encompassed by a traditional major. Thematic
Plan majors
work with a faculty adviser to tailor a personalized
plan of study involving courses from various departments.
Both
plans have the Liberal Studies Core (27 units) in common.
The plans diverge in the remaining 24 units in the major.
Elementary Education Plan majors take 24 units of Pre-Professional
courses in addition to the Liberal Studies Core; Thematic
Plan majors take 24 units in a Personalized Coordinated
Program in addition to the Liberal Studies Core.
