Dr. Thomas Klammer

Dr. Klammer joined the faculty at Cal State Fullerton in 1971, having earned a PhD in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Michigan. His teaching has included courses in linguistics, literature, writing and the teaching of writing, and most of all in the history and structure of the English language. After serving as Chair of the Department of English and Comparative Literature and, subsequently, Chair of the Department of Linguistics, Dr. Klammer became Associate Dean for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1991. Four years later, he was appointed Associate Vice President for Academic Programs at the University. Since 1999 he has been Dean of the College. Dean Klammer is co-author of two books, The Practicing Writer: An Interactive Guide to College Writing (Houghton Mifflin, 1983) and Analyzing English Grammar (Pearson Longman, 5th edition, 2007). He is married to Joan Klammer, an artist.
