Cost
Program fee:
$5845
Program fee includes housing, orientation, field trips, insurance and group airport transfer. Fee does not include: CSUF tuition, round trip airfare, passport fees, or food. There is a refundable security deposit, which is an additional fee of $250 and is due at time of final payment.
Plus:- OPTIONAL Group Air Flight: On a space-available basis, students may purchase the optional transportation package consisting of round-trip airfare (LAX to Florence) and round-trip transfers overseas between the airport and the housing in Florence for an additional $1065 excluding mandatory U.S. government and airline-imposed departure taxes, fees and fuel surcharges (estimated at $371) for which students will be billed separately. Students must choose this option prior to Friday, March 12, 2010.
- OPTIONAL meal plan consisting of 20 vouchers for some lunches and dinners (at the student’s choice) in local trattoria in Florence for a fee of $375.
- OPTIONAL Extra Protection Insurance Coverage, including increased medical insurance ($65) and/or personal effects insurance ($90).

- A one-page essay on “Why I want to go to Italy and how I plan to represent my country and my campus.”
- Four (4) passport sized photos with your name printed on the back of each photo
- Proof of $450 deposit (copy of deposit check) if you are not paying by credit card
- A copy of your passport photo page, if available.
- Should a withdraw on or before March 12, 2010, s/he will receive a refund of all fees paid less the $100 processing fee, the $50 non-refundable application fee and any non-refundable deposits paid by the students or by AIFS on behalf of the student. Should s/he withdraw after March 12, 2010, but on or before April 8, 2010, a refund of all fees paid would be made less $450 plus any non-refundable deposits paid by the student or by AIFS on behalf of the student. No refunds would be possible after April 8, 2010.
- Students who must withdraw from the program because of a covered injury or illness will receive a refund of all fees paid less the $50 non-refundable application fee, a $100 processing fee and a $210 insurance premium.
- Please note that students who are academically withdrawn by their home institutions after their applications have been processed by AIFS are subject to the standard refund policy.
- In the event of the U.S. State Department issuing a travel warning which advises U.S. citizens not to travel to Italy, or if they are already in Italy, to leave it, AIFS will:
- If the Program has not started, either make suitable alternative arrangements or cancel the Program and refund all fees paid.
- If the Program has started, suspend the Program and fly the students home. If students are returned home they will receive a pro-rata rebate of fees paid to AIFS for the proportion of the Program not completed, less the $50 non-refundable application fee, the $100 processing fee, the $210 insurance premium and any costs incurred flying the student home.

Room & Board
The students are housed in apartments in twin-bedded rooms with four students typically sharing a two-bedroom apartment with cooking facilities. A change of linen and a cleaning service is provided. Telephones are not available in the apartments, but AIFS will advise students on inexpensive local cell phone options. An optional meal voucher plan for an additional fee of $375 is available consisting of 20 vouchers for some lunches and dinners (students choice) at local trattoria in Florence.
Eligibility and How to Enroll
You must be a CSU student in good standing with an accumulated 2.5 GPA or better and have accumulated at least 30 units of credit. All majors are welcome.
You must have a valid US passport. This process usually takes about 4-6 weeks, so plan early to apply for one. A passport application can be picked up at any post office – start the process now!!!

REQUIRED COURSES
HUM 350T – Italian Life and Culture
This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the introduction of Italy
and other contemporary European cultures and civilizations. Students will
be introduced to social, historical & cultural highlights of contemporary
Europe, to principles and methods useful for analyzing cultures and their
own interactions with them. This course includes lectures by guest faculty
and related field trips.
In addition to HUM 350T, 2 English classes will be offered. More information coming soon.
Field Trips

Field trips will include a one-day trip to Sienna, a 4-day visit to Rome, and a 3-day trip to Venice. Rome and Venice accommodations are in a tourist class hotel and include daily breakfast. |
