Natalie Fousekis, Ph.D.

Brief
biography:Dr. Fousekis teaches courses in modern U.S. history, grassroots politics, women’s history, and oral history. She serves as the Director for the Center for Oral and Public History. She did her undergraduate work at Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. Between college and graduate school, Dr. Fousekis worked in Washington DC first for the Grand Canyon Trust and then for Congresswoman Barbara Boxer. Dr. Fousekis received her Ph.D. in U.S. history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000. Her book-length manuscript entitled, “Demanding Child Care: Women’s Activism and the Politics of Welfare, 1940-1971” will be published in 2011 by the University of Illinois Press.
