Brief
biography: I earned a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and J.D. from the University of Wisconsin, have published eighteen books and have five more under constract, have authored forty-three articles and thirteen book chapters and encyclopedia entries, and am an active member of First Lutheran Church of Fullerton. I was named Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lecturer in 2007. I am the founding vice president of the California Supreme Court Historical Society and continue as a director and editor of the journal California Legal History. I am past president of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society in history and am co-advisor of the Theta Pi Chapter on the CSU, Fullerton campus.
