Brief
biography: Allison Varzally earned her PhD from UCLA in 2002. Her research addresses patterns of immigration and intercultural relations in the 20th century American West. Her first book, "Making A non-White America: Californians Coloring Outside Ethnic Lines, 1925-1955" was published by the University of California Press in Spring 2008. She has embarked on a new project about the history of international adoptions from Asia during the Cold War.
