Introduction

Hello and welcome to the Geography Club website! To give you an idea of how our club operates, first and foremost, this club is NOT limited to Geography majors only. In fact, we encourage students from all majors to attend our meetings, whether you like performing outdoor activities, helping the environment, or social networking. Our club meetings are scheduled for every other Wednesday at noon in the Humanities building, room 422D. Come join us!

04 MAY 2010: Hey everyone! It has been awhile. A special THANKS to all of those who volunteered at the California Geographical Society over the weekend and made it one of the smoothest CGS conferences in a long time! The semester is coming to a close and our last Brown Bag of the semester will be taking place tomorrow, same time, same place; Slovakia by Diane Sheridan. I heard there will be CHIPS and SALSA. I also heard (and know) that my position as club website maintainer/designer AND historian has NOT yet been filled. :( I assure you that I have had a blast with my Historian duties and working on this website isn't too hard! I have all the tags laid out in a way that it'll be easy as copying and pasting. Plus, it is an opportunity to learn some basic HTML and CSS! This position also allows you to be a part of smear campaigns (well, anyone can, but you'll have access to posting it up on here) and making pictures like this:

To make posters for the club like this:

Or putting whatever you want on our site (appropriate of course) like all of this! Voting is still taking place, so vote for your new Geography Club Officers now! -AE

08 APR 2010: Hey all, the Big Sur camping trip was a success! Thanks to those who made it out. Pictures will come soon. I am working on making a temporary (linked) gallery with a collection of club photos [I have] taken over time. Trust me, there are many! And I know you are all anxious to see them... There will be a special Brown Bag presentation by Dr. Taylor NEXT Wednesday at 2:30 PM, so be sure to attend it. See you next week! -AE

17 FEB 2010: On February 20th, we're hiking up to Sandstone Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains, which is known as one of the best hikes in the area with beautiful views! We're meeting at 8:30am behind the Humanities building and will be carpooling to the trailhead. This is a "moderate" hike that is approximately 6 mi. long, with an elevation gain of about 1400 ft. Please bring LOTS of water (at least a liter!), some cash for gas, and pack a sack lunch, snacks, etc! The hike shouldn't take us more than 3 hours, depending on how many times we stop to soak in the beautiful views. The drive takes about an hour and a half from CSUF, so we should be back to campus between 3pm and 4pm, give or take. In addition, our first Brown Bag is TODAY! Please come join us in the Geography Lab @ noon Shelly Morgan on Ireland (H-422). Ask any officer for more details on the hike. Hope to see you there! -AE
