Internships

Graduate Research Internship Program (GRIP) at University of California, Santa Barbara

This summer program provides current master's and doctoral students with resources to effectively compete for doctoral programs or locate and apply for postdoctoral opportunities in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the social sciences.

Current Master's students will participate in an 8-week (June 19th-August 13th) research experience and gain familiarity with a prospective advisor and department. The deadline is February 1st, 2005. If you are accepted into GRIP you will be provided with a stipend, room and board and opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities. Participants will be selected on the basis of the fit between their interests and those of participating UCSB faculty and on the intellectual promise of the applicant.

To be eligible to apply you must:

be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in a STEM or Social Sciences discipline
have a 3.0 GPA
be available for the full duration of the program
be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident

PUBLIC RELATIONS/COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

The Orange County Water District is currently recruiting for a PART-TIME PUBLIC RELATIONS/ COMMUNICATIONS INTERN to assist with special events, public relations and marketing. This person must be a self-starter who is able to work independently on various projects and tasks. The public relations intern must have good grammar and writing skills, minimum of two years of college or equivalent on-the-job training, administrative skills including typing, filing and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of PowerPoint is a plus. Position requires you be a current student in Public Relations, Communications or a related field.

SALARY: $11.00 per hour

Duties include assisting Department personnel in the collection and management of
biological data, performing aquatic and terrestrial resource assessments, and
maintenance of electronic data files. Must be proficient with data management software
(Microsoft Access, Excel).
The employee must have the equivalent of 2 years of college with a minimum of 10
semester hours (or equivalent) in biological or chemistry sciences and a valid California
