Dr. Eric Reyes

Teaching interests: Asian American Creative Expression, Introduction to Ethnic Studies, Filipino American Communities and Contemporary Issues, Asian American Community Development

Research interests: Race and ethnicity with a focus on Asian America and Filipino America; gender and sexuality with a focus on communities of color, and urban studies with a focus on culture and community development.

Brief biography: I completed my Ph.D. in American Civilization at Brown University in 2004. Previously, I earned a M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA in 1993 and double majored in Mathematics, and Modern Society and Social Thought from UC Santa Cruz in 1988. In addition to my formal education, I have worked with and learned a great deal from community-based organizations such as Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team that provides HIV/AIDS services to Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Currently, I am working with Fil-Am Arts, a community-based cultural production organization in Los Angeles County, and range County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance, a multi-service organization in Orange County.
