The American Studies Student Association (ASSA) has historically been an active student group on the CSUF campus: publishing an internal newsletter, The Bone Pilgrim, as well as supporting the American Studies student journal, The American Papers, sponsoring guest lectures by visiting scholars and hosting student-faculty gatherings such as informal "get acquainted" pizza parties, and the ASSA's annual Ethnic Dinner -- when American Studies students, faculty, and friends put their considerable analytical and interpretive abilities to work in the kitchen instead of the study, the result is a delectable feast of ethnic heritage entrees and desserts.

While ASSA events and gatherings are usually well-attended, ASSA "activists" hope to increase student attendance and participation in ASSA business meetings and leadership roles. American Studies majors, grad students, minors, and interested others are encouraged to attend ASSA events and meetings and get to know their fellow ASSA members. Students may join in and become active in the Association at any point -- if you miss a meeting or event, don't let that keep you from participating when you can!
