The history of the word

The history of the word sustain brings a history of acting in a way that supports, endures or to hold up or to simply keep. Using environmental, cultural, social, and economic perspectives, you will be able to propose solutions to identified challenges and problems. In our restless world, we come to understand that things are based on change, but what do we know about things that stay constant? Here, you will come to understand how vitally permanent our world is by taking a series of interdisciplinary courses that interweave the social, economic, and environmental pillars of sustainability. With this pathway, bring yourself to understand the cultural and social facets of sustainability that are long lasting and how our human touch can help keep or vanish parts of the world.

We are excited each year to see our students step from the shadows of their faculty mentors and into their own spotlight.  Both Marco Moreno and Anneke Mendiola have integrated what they have learned as majors in our college with their own values and aspirations.  Marco’s research records and celebrates the historical importance of public art in our local community.  Anneke’s personal persistence pays tribute to the student in each of us who is continually hungry for more.

HSS has provided the campus with study abroad opportunities that meet [MM1] [FS2] the academic needs of all students for more than 25 years.  As we have expanded beyond our initial location in the United Kingdom to include sites in Europe, South East Asia, and Central and South America, we have also strengthened our commitment to civic and social engagement. Last summer’s trip to Denmark illustrates this commitment, having introduced students to ways in which other countries and cultures are responding successfully to the challenges of food sustainability.

[MM1]Possibly change “meet” to “have met”?????
[FS2]No, let’s keep it—then it speaks to always and forever.
